Case filed against Sonu Nigam for deliberately hurting religious sentiments

Just last week singer, Sonu Nigam made headlines after he took to twitter with a series of tweets ranting out at the use of loudspeakers for religious activities. In fact Nigam who was awakened by the Azaan that was being played in the morning on loudspeakers concluded his series of tweets by terming it as, gundagardi. Now we hear that a case has been filed against Sonu Nigam for deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings. Hemant Patil and Anwar Shaikh have filed a case against Sonu Nigam in A S Pansare Court, Pune for deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings under Section 153A , 295A and 296 of Indian Penal Code. According to the complaint filed, Patil and Shaikh who both are residents of Pune, accuse Sonu Nigam of promoting enmity between differentgroups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence and language. While the court has accepted the petition and set a hearing date for April 28, 2017, Sonu Nigam who has been booked under 153A,295A and 296 which deal with deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs.
