Lootera in a win-win situation before release?

4 Jul 2013

If reliable sources are to be believed, Lootera is turning out to be a win-win for all involved. Whether it is the producers, distributors or exhibitors, an arrangement has been arrived at in a manner that allows the film to breathe easy on its release.

Confirms an industry source, "The total budget of the film including P&A (Print and Advertising) is barely 32 cr. It has been tightly controlled by Phantom and Balaji. Given the huge brand value of the makers and the glowing reviews for the film, major recoveries have already come in from music, satellite, home video, overseas and ancillary rights. The film is safe on table." The limited dependency on theatre revenues has resulted in Balaji assigning several domestic territories to leading distributors on an advance basis ensuring that no one loses.

Given the extraordinary response that has been generated from the previews of the film, the film is poised to be a good one at the urban multiplexes. In fact, rather than going wide, Balaji is giving the film a contained and focused release essentially in the urban centers.
