Priyanka Chopra to promote Indian handlooms

Priyanka Chopra recently made waves when the first look of her upcoming release Mary Kom was released. Now we hear that the actress will soon be seen promoting the Indian sari on the international platform. In fact a proposal to this effect is being given the final touches.

Though as per union government's directive the Bararasi silk saris will be at the forefront of the branding, Priyanka will be promoting the Indian handloom industry. Apart from this we hear that the union government, is also toying with the idea of opening a National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) in the temple town after which the products of the weavers in the city would be "integrated and upgraded" with the help of the institute.
