19 Aug 2014

Recently, it was reported that the CEO of the Censor Board of Film Certification (CBFC) had been booked after a CBFC panel member and an agent were held accepting bribe allegedly on his behalf. Now we hear that Kumar has been arrested by the CBI in a different case of bribery.

This arrest comes after the CBI was led to evidence of Rakesh Kumar's involvement in bribery being accepted from film producers to expedite certification by a different agent who was being interrogated for a while now. Rakesh Kumar will now be produced in court on Tuesday, post which the CBI expects to dig out more information in the case involving collusion between the CBFC and film producers.

Interestingly, this arrest came after Sarvesh Jaiswal, who was also arrested and subsequently interrogated in the first bribery case, lead the investigative team to another agent named Kishanpalli. Later on interrogating Kishanpalli, the CBI uncovered evidence of Rakesh Kumar's alleged involvement in accepting bribes from certain production houses.
