Omung Kumar to direct a musical and a film on World War I

1 Oct 2014

After the success of yet another sports biopic in the form of Mary Kom (last year it was Bhaag Milkha Bhaag), Omung Kumar, who debuted as a director is all set for his upcoming projects. Omung is said to have two projects in mind: a musical accompanied by a beautiful plotline and a drama based on World War I.

The recently released Priyanka Chopra starrer Mary Kom earned a lot of appreciation from the critics and audience alike. However, Omung Kumar has decided to deviate from the genre and experiment with other subjects too with his next films. Though the director has not elaborated on the films he will be doing in the future, he surely has asserted that a film on World War I is on his mind because no one has ever attempted a period drama of that era and he believes that there are many stories that are waiting to be told on the silver screen. He also assured that the cast will be finalized soon. However, we get to hear that this untitled project will be male-centric with lots of dramatic elements.

On the other hand, when it comes to the musical, it has been one of Omung Kumar's lifetime dreams and surely a magnum opus. Excited about it, Omung revealed that he had written the script of it even before Mary Kom went on floor. This film is surely an extravaganza but again a period drama that will be shot in London.

Though there are two projects in hand, Omung Kumar firmly maintains that he will start with the one which materializes first.
