14 Oct 2014

Of late we have witnessed more and more actors and directors opting for a profit share from their film's success rather than their usual remuneration. Ekta Kapoor, on the other hand, has been known for making cost sensitive yet entertaining cinema that has now set the benchmark for high on content, low on budget films that tend to do well at the box office.

While the concept of profit sharing is fast gaining pace, we at Bollywood Hungama bring you this exclusive piece of information.

According to our sources, the makers of Half Girlfriend, Balaji Motion Pictures, have come up with a new way of reducing the overall cost of production for their venture. In fact Bajaji will be splitting the profits of the film three ways between author Chetan Bhagat, director Mohit Suri and themselves.

It is learnt that for the film Balaji will be compensating Chetan Bhagat, whose book the film is based on with Rs. 5 crores along with 33% of the film's profit, while Mohit Suri who will be directing the film will receive Rs. 10 crores and 33% of the film's profit. The other 33% will be the share of Balaji itself. Interestingly, all concerned parties (Balaji, Mohit and Chetan) will also be credited as being co-producers of the film.

Though the details of the cast and crew are yet to be finalized, Half Girlfriend is slated to go on floor next year after Mohit Suri wraps up his other commitments. The film will be shot in varied locations from Bihar to Delhi to New York.
