Earlier we had reported that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan will be starring in the upcoming biopic on Sarabjit, directed by Omung Kumar. While the film has been on cards for a long time, the cast has almost been finalized for the biopic. Now, Randeep Hooda has been roped in to play the title role of Sarabjit in the film.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan will be seen in the role of Dalbir Kaur, Sarabjit's sister and the film will narrate the story of her and her relationship with her brother based on her accounts. Sarabjit Singh, a farmer residing at Bhikiwind, Punjab, near the Indo-Pak border, crossed the border after having a couple of drinks. However, he was mistaken to be an Indian spy and was sentenced to capital punishment. The film Sarabjit however will present the struggle that Dalbir went through while fighting for justice for her brother. Dalbir was very close to her brother and considered him like a son. All her efforts to free him went futile and her brother Sarabjit was killed by his jail inmates when Afzal Guru was killed in India.

The film Sarabjit, for the first time will see former beauty queen Aishwarya Rai Bachchan sharing screen space with Randeep Hooda.
