Dibakar Banerjee to make Byomkesh sequel on Aditya Chopra's say-so

30 Oct 2015

Sequels are always offshoots of success. For the first time we'll see a sequel to an unsuccessful film, and that too of a very costly failure.

Dibakar Banerjee's Detective Byomkesh Bakshy which was a box office disappointment earlier this year is now being treated to a sequel and that too on the say-so of the producer Aditya Chopra.

Confirming this Dibakar says, "Aditya Chopra is keen that we carry Byomkesh's story forward. Detective Byomkesh was always planned as a series of films based on the stories of Sharadindu Bandopadhyay." Sushant Singh Rajput who played the Detective went all-out to bring to life the character and was deeply disappointed when all his efforts went unrewarded.

But Sushant has not lost his enthusiasm for the Dhoti-clad Kolkata detective investigative zeal.

"We are all very excited about the Byomkesh sequel," says Dibakar.
