YJHD vs Lootera - KJo vs Ekta clash or a smart move

1 Aug 2012

Even as one is still trying to figure out whether this Diwali would witness one of the biggest clashes of the recent times with Shah Rukh Khan and Ajay Devgn taking on each other, here is the latest development. Apparently, heavy weights Karan Johar and Ekta Kapoor have finalised the same date for their respective productions, hence leading to whispers within the industry circles if all is indeed well between the duo.

"Their Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani and Lootera are progressing quite well and both Karan and Ekta are extremely gung-ho about their respective films. However, now they seem to have penciled in the same date for their release. Not just is this unhealthy, it is also very surprising since in real life they are thick friends and would never allow clash of any kind, whether personal or professional", informs a source.

This was evident from the fact that when promotion of Ekta's recent release Kyaa Super Kool Hai Hum kick-started, Karan was gracious enough to lend a few shots from his Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Ghum. He was also quite a sport when his Dostana was spoofed in the film. However, it is rather surprising that both want to arrive on the same date now.

"Both Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani and Lootera are romantic films and feature hearthrobs like Ranbir Kapoor and Ranvir Singh. It would be unfair to pit them against each other", a veteran filmmaker adds, "Perhaps this is just a stop gap arrangement on the part of both filmmakers as they may not want anyone else to eye the same slot. It is actually a smart step because later one of them will quietly move out, hence paving the way for other to have a free run."

This sounds logical as well, considering the fact that the two are also expected to start a film soon with first time director Akshay Roy. Guess the perceived clash was only an eye wash though one can safely presume that the cast would surely be heaving a sigh of relief.

We tried contacting Karan Johar and Ekta Kapoor but they chose not to comment.
