Siddharth Anand to remake Rambo, a three film franchise in India

30 Jan 2016

After the high octane stunts in Bang Bang , Siddharth Anand is all set to make yet another action drama. He will be bringing back the much popular Rambo franchise to India starring the superstar Sylvester Stallone.

Excited about making such a famous franchise, Siddharth revealed that they had the official rights for the film for over two years but believe that this will be the right time to kick start the first film from the franchise mainly because Sylvester is announcing his retirement from Rambo . However, the director who will also be co-producing the film assured that the Indian version is just a reboot. Talking about the film, he says, "The film is a trilogy but different from the U.S version. In fact, the original film dealt with internal conflicts, the then situation in U.S, the Afghan war among others which cannot be used for India. Hence, the Indian version will deal with our situations, our concepts, our wars. It is the mythology of Rambo that we want to retain. It is a cult. Our character of Rambo will have his own angst." Co-produced by Samir Gupta, WaterFront Films and Millenium Films (who also produced the original), the untitled film of the franchise is slated to go on floor this year. Though he is keen on signing Hrithik Roshan as the lead, Siddharth however confirmed that they have just wrapped up the script and will now start casting for the film.
