Varun Dhawan - Alia Bhatt starrer Badrinath Ki Dulhania goes on floors

In 2014, we saw the release of the Varun Dhawan - Alia Bhatt starrer Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania . Now two years on, the makers of the film have commenced work on the sequel to the film. Titled Badrinath Ki Dulhania, the film which went on floor today once again features Varun and Alia headlining the cast.

Directed by Shashank Khaitan, Badrinath Ki Dulhania is said to be a fresh story set against a rural backdrop up North that will feature both Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt in completely new avatars. While the script for the film was developed and locked long back, the lead actors of the film commenced workshops for the same about a month ago. Though the first shoot schedule of the film is in Mumbai, the crew will later apparently move to Kota and Jhansi for the following schedules.

Tweeting about the same but maintaining a sense of secrecy, Varun and Alia took to twitter talking about the film in an indirect manner. Varun initiated the process saying, "I hear the 1st ever love franchise is in the air! @dharmamovies @karanjohar @aliaa08 is that for real??" Later tweeting to Alia, the actor posted, "ALIA #humpty needs his dulhania." To which she replied, "VARUN !!!! Everyone needs a Dulhania".

While an official announcement of the film will be made later today, we hear that the film's first love song, which will be picturised on the duo in the first schedule, has already been recorded.

As for the film, Badrinath Ki Dulhania will be produced by Karan Johar's Dharma Production and is slated to release on March 10, 2017.
