Salim Khan slams Naseeruddin Shah for his comments on late Rajesh Khanna

28 Jul 2016

Just a few days ago, controversy brewed as Naseeruddin Shah accused late actor and India's first superstar Rajesh Khanna of being a mediocre actor. Followed by an outrage by Khanna's family, now some of Bollywood's prominent personalities have come out in support of Rajesh Khanna, fondly known as Kaka.

Popular writer and father of superstar Salman Khan, Salim Khan, who doesn't mince words when it comes to sharing his thoughts on social media, took to Twitter to talk about the incident. Comparing to his son Salman Khan, who has an unprecedented fanbase in the country, Salim Khan asserted that the late Rajesh Khanna was a much bigger star with a much bigger fanbase which continues even after his demise. "Anyone calling him a mediocre actor should know that no one can reach these heights unless he has something extraordinary to offer," read one of Salim's tweets. He further added, "An actor passed my house and saw a big crowd waiting for Salman he called me up to say he has not seen anything like this before. I told him I have seen bigger crowds many times outside Rajesh Khannas house. He was the first and the last superstar of the millenium." Taking a dig at the comments passed by Naseeruddin Shah, Salim Khan also maintained, "Frustration and bitterness are difficult to cure but carrying the same for such a long time is unheard of." Naseeruddin Shah, a few days ago, stated that the mediocrity entered the world of Bollywood in 70s and further claimed that Rajesh Khanna was a poor actor according to him. Post the comment, Naseer also faced the wrath of the Khanna family. The late superstar's daughter, actress and author Twinkle Khanna refused to accept Naseer's apology for the comment, after which former wife of Rajesh Khanna and veteran actress Dimple Kapadia too expressed her displeasure regarding the comment.
