Kabir Khan to direct the film on 1983 World Cup

Earlier we had mentioned that Phantom Productions had met the team of the 1983 World Cup and had decided to take up the rights for the same to portray it on celluloid. And now, we hear that the Bajrangi Bhaijaan director Kabir Khan is all set to direct this cricket drama.

We hear that Kabir Khan will soon start the film, once he wraps up Tubelight starring Salman Khan and Sohail Khan. It is also being said that several cricketers from the 1983 World Cup team will be a part of the film as mentors and this list includes, renowned cricket genius Kapil Dev along with veterans Mohinder Amarnath, Sunil Gavaskar, Kirti Azad, Syed Kirmani, Krishmachari Srikkanth, Balwinder Sandhu, Yashpal Sharma. It is also being said that the film, which will capture the emotional journey of underdogs winning the World Cup, will be shot at varied locations as the makers are keen on recreating each match that changed the course of history for Indian cricket.

However the details of casting and others are yet to be finalized and the film is said to go on floor later this year.
