Anurag to hold workshop about origin of coal mafia

12 Jun 2012

Anurag Kashyap has always been a maverick. Be it his films or the way he promotes them, Kashyap doesn't resort to the tried and tested formula, often walking the path less travelled.

For his latest film Gangs Of Wasseypur too, Kashyap has come up with a unique way to create awareness about the world of Wasseypur. Since the film deals with the coal mafia in Dhanbad, Kashyap plans to hold a special kind of a workshop with select media personnel today evening.

The workshop will introduce the media to Dhanbad's recent history with respect to the coal mafia. The workshop will cover how the start of illegal activities coincided with the start of mining in Dhanbad and how labour problems were the chief reason why mafia was required in the first place. The workshop will also delve into private miners and their exploits besides shedding light on the nationalization of mines and the birth of modern coal mafia. All this will be of course backed by financial data that put Dhanbad Mafia in the news and richer than any other underworld organization.
