The year 2012 has indeed been quite tragic for Bollywood as the industry has lost many a great talent this year. On early Sunday morning, yet another stalwart of Hindi cinema breathed his last. Yes we are indeed talking about the great A.K. Hangal saab who left for his eternal abode after being critically ill for a while.
Hangal was admitted to the Asha Parekh Hospital in Santacruz on August 16, after he slipped and fell in his bathroom on August 14, fracturing his right thigh bone. Prior to this, the actor had also been suffering from pulmonary tuberculosis, chronic kidney disease and hypertension.
Hangal has entertained us with his memorable performances in films like Sholay, Saagar, Shaukeen, Aandhi, Kora Kagaz, Bawarchi, Avtaar, Arjun and many more. His last few films included Aamir Khan's Lagaan and Shah Rukh Khan's Paheli. He even recently shot for a TV serial called 'Madhubala'.
Hangal's funeral held in Mumbai yesterday was attended by B-town celebs like Ila Arun, Raj Zutshi, Pawan Malhotra and Raza Murad. Sadly none of the Bollywood biggies were present to pay their last respect to Hangal saab.
Bollywood Hungama offers its heartfelt condolence to Hangal saab's family members.

Avtar Kishan Hangal, popularly known as A.K. Hangal (98 years), is extremely critical and was been admitted to Asha Parekh Hospital in Mumbai yesterday, after he fell in his bathroom and fractured his right femur (thigh) bone. Since his condition started deteriorating after the initial examinations at home, the doctors have shifted him to the hospital's ICU and put him on ventilator support.
Talking about Hangal's condition, Dr. Vinod Khanna, (Orthopedic Surgeon- Asha Parekh Hospital) said that during Hangal's examination, they found that he had severe chest complications, and that's why they admitted him in the ICU. Khanna also added that his condition is still critical and he has been kept under observation.
Readers may recall that Hangal, despite, his age and health conditions, braved to face the camera for the recently launched TV serial 'Madhubala', wherein he had reached the sets on a wheelchair.
Bollywood Hungama prays for Hangal saab's quick and speedy recovery.
