Aditya Pancholi, Raza Murad express grief on Junior Mehmood's demise

8 Dec 2023

Aditya Pancholi and Raza Murad expressed their grief and paid their last respects to veteran actor Junior Mehmood in Mumbai on Friday. Junior Mehmood, who was battling with stage four cancer. He was 67. The actor breathed his last in the early hours of Friday. Junior Mehmood's family friend confirmed the news and said, "He passed away last night at 2 am in Mumbai. He was suffering from stomach cancer and was not keeping well for the last few days. His last rites will be performed in Santacruz burial ground after today's afternoon prayers."Talking to ANI, Aditya Pancholi said, "Very sad, he was a very kind person and he helped many people. I will remember him throughout my life and pray to God that his soul rests in peace and his family gets strength. He was like my brother, when we did not have a car, he used to take us around during the struggling days."Raza Murad shared, "In 110 years of Indian films's history, there is no such superstar child artist like him has come till date in the industry. Whether it was Rajesh Khanna's 'Haathi Mere Saathi', 'Aan Milo Sajna', superstars also needed Junior Mehmood. He is the only child artist in history, who had his own audience, who was superstar in his own. His name used to create rhythm in the film. Distributors also wanted him. He was paired with Sheikh Mukhtar Saab. They were like master and apprentice."The actor added, "It was Junior Mehmood, who took me out of India. After he took me to Dubai, then to Bangkok. He never use to make films without me. Whether it was a video film or Marathi film, without me he never use to do shows. He was a very humble person. He was firm and true to his commitment. Such child artist has neither come till date nor will come in future."Avtar Gill, who also came to pay the last tribute to Junior Mehmood, told ANI, "Few days ago Johnny Lever told me about his health condition. You will be surprised to know that he was senior to me in the film industry. When he used to work in the films, I was in school. In college, I use to watch his movies. After that we kept on meeting and many times talked about working in the films. He was a loving person, whenever I met him, he greeted me well. The whole world knew Junior Mehmood as an actor but not as a person."He continued, "Three-fours days ago, I also did a video call with him. He was able to recognize but was not talking. So, I told I told I will come to meet you in one or two days. Then, suddenly got the news that he is no more. I didn't knew that he will leave us so early. I pray to god that his soul rest in peace. He was a good man. The work he has done, everyone and the whole world knows it. We have seen him working with superstars like Shammi Kapoor, Jeetendra, among others, there was no such star with whom he didn't worked with. He was one of the them who is called a born actor, be it a song, dance or scene, he always did a tremendous job. I think the world will remember for the work he did."Veteran actor Junior Mehmood, known for his roles in films like 'Kati Patang' and 'Aan Milo Sajna' among others, is currently battling with stage four cancer.Jr Mehmood's close friend Salam Kazi earlier told ANI, "He was ill for 2 months and initially we thought that he might have some minor problem but after that suddenly his weight started decreasing. And when the medical reports came, it said there was cancer in the liver and lungs and a tumour in the intestine and he has also developed jaundice. So the treatment going on, but the doctors said it's a stage four cancer."Jr Mehmood worked in over 200 films in different languages. He is best known for movies like 'Brahmachari' (1968), 'Mera Naam Joker' (1970), 'Parvarish' (1977), and 'Do Aur Do Paanch' (1980).

Sooraj Pancholi acquitted in Jiah Khan's case; Take a look at the actor's career

28 Apr 2023

Jiah Khan was found dead in her suburban home on June 3, 2013.Based on a letter seized on June 10, which was purportedly written by the 25-year-old Jiah, Mumbai Police booked Suraj Pancholi under section 306 (abatement to suicide) and arrested him.Sooraj, son of actors Aditya Pancholi and Zarina Wahab, was allegedly in a relationship with Jiah.Jiah's mother Rabia Khan alleged that her daughter was murdered. In October 2013, Rabia moved to the Bombay High Court seeking a CBI probe in the case while alleging that her daughter had been murdered. On the order of the Bombay High Court, the CBI took over the probe from the Maharashtra Police in July 2014.Rabia claimed that her daughter was in an abusive relationship with Sooraj Pancholi. In December 2015, the CBI submitted a report before the court and termed the case as an abetment to suicide. A few days later, Rabia demanded a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the matter. In February 2017, the High Court rejected the demand for the formation of the SIT.The trial court also rejected Rabia's demand for further investigation in 2018.On 15 March 2019, the trial began in the Jiah Khan case.In the year 2021, the case was reassigned to the Special CBI Court because the sessions court said that the jurisdiction of the CBI case is not with the sessions court. On March 21, 2023, the government side closed its case with the statement of 21 witnesses. On April 20, 2023, both sides presented their final arguments after which the court fixed 28 April to announce the verdict. On Friday, the Special CBI court judge Judge AS Sayyed said "Due to paucity of evidence, this court can't hold you (Sooraj Pancholi) guilty, hence acquitted."After arriving home from the court, the 'Hero' actor greeted the media persons, expressed his happiness, and thanked the paparazzi outside his Mumbai residence. His housing staff later distributed sweets to the paps. After the Court's verdict, Sooraj took to his Instagram and reacted to his acquittal and wrote, "The Truth Always Wins! #GodIsGreat."Sooraj made his Bollywood debut with the action romantic film 'Hero' opposite actor Athiya Shetty in the year 2015.Helmed by Nikkhil Advani and produced by Salman Khan, the film also starred actor Tigmasnhu Dhulia, Sharad Kelkar, Aditya Pancholi and Vivian Bhatena in pivotal roles. The film failed to impress the audience at the box office.'Hero' was an official Hindi remake of legendary director Subhash Ghai's 1983 musical drama film of the same name which starred Jackie Shroff in the lead role. After that, Sooraj was next seen in the drama film 'Satellite Shankar' in which he played the role of an Indian army officer which was released in the year 2019.Helmed by Irfan Kamal, the film also starred actor Megha Akash in the lead role and it also failed to impress the audience at the box office despite getting positive reviews. After facing some hard times in the films, Sooraj also experimented to do tough roles and opted to do a ballroom dance film titled 'Time to Dance' in the year 2021.The film marked the Bollywood debut of Katrina Kaif's sister Isabelle Kaif.Helmed by Stanley D'costa the film was another big failure of Sooraj's acting career.Earlier in 2020, Sooraj announced his next biopic film 'Hawa Singh' which was based on the life of legendary Indian boxer Hawa Singh.Actor Salman Khan took to his Twitter to announce the film and shared the first-look poster which he captioned, "Hawa se baatein karega singh... #HawaSinghBiopic."A recipient of the Arjuna Award and the Dronacharya Award, Hawa Singh dominated Indian and Asian Boxing in his weight class for a decade.Directed by Prakash Nambiar, a new update on the biopic is still awaited.Apart from films, he also appeared in some music videos like 'GF BF' and 'Dim Dim Light'. On the other hand, talking about Jiah Khan's acting career, she worked only in three films during her career span and all of them emerged to be a hit.She made her Bollywood debut with Ram Gopal Varma's drama film 'Nishabd' opposite actor Amitabh Bachchan. She received a lot of appreciation for her performance in the film.Post that, she was also featured in actor Aamir Khan's blockbuster film 'Ghajini' in which she was seen in a supporting role.At last, she appeared in Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh's romantic comedy film 'Housefull'.

Jiah Khan death case: CBI court likely to pronounce verdict today

Aditya Panscholi assaults neighbour

27 Jun 2013

It seems that the recent times are just not in favour of Aditya Panscholi. While on one hand, his son Sooraj is passing through turbulent times in reference to the (late) Jiah Khan case, on the other, Aditya has now landed himself on the wrong side on the law.

A case has been registered against the actor at Versova police station, after his neighbour accused him of (allegedly) assaulting him. Reports have it that the police have the CCTV footage of the assault, based on which, the case has been registered under sections 452 (trespassing) and 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

The complainant's name has been said to be Bharghav Patel.

"My wife and I are getting ready for a long battle ahead" - Aditya Panscholi

15 Jun 2013

Aditya Panscholi has not slept or eaten properly for the last three days. How could he, when his son Sooraj is in police custody awaiting judicial custody which is expected to happen any time now.

The last three days have been spent with the Panscholi' best friends, namely a battery of the best legal brains in the business. And from what one hears, Jiah Khan's mother should brace herself for a long hard battle with the Panscholis.

Says a source close to the Panscholis, "Once a clearer picture emerges regarding Sooraj, the Panscholis plan to file elaborate criminal and defamation cases against all those who have accused their son of such serious crimes against the woman he loved. In fact, Aditya has himself been dragged into mud. He is used to being in controversies. But he wants to know what harm has done for the boy to be where he is today." According to this source, a fool-proof case has been drawn to counter Jiah's mother charges. Aditya, when contacted, seemed uncharacteristically and scarily subdued. He admitted he had been locked up with lawyers.

Says Aditya, "My son has been called many names, accused of many horrible crimes. As a father, I've borne with all the humiliation that my son has undergone. My son has gone into jail as a boy. He will come out as a man.

Ek aulaad andar gaya, ek faulad baahar ayega . He will only gain through the pain of this experience. It's that poor girl for whom my heart reaches out. She didn't deserve this kind of a public humiliation after her death." Breaking down Aditya says, "Yes, my wife and I are getting ready for a long battle ahead. We will be fighting not just for our son but for Jiah also. I've about two weeks' work in Salman's film Mental. But no more work for me. My entire focus will be on getting justice for those two kids. I won't rest until I succeed. That's the only aim in life I will live for."

Aditya Panscholi gets into tussle with media

5 Jun 2013

Yesterday, the entire film industry was shocked with the sudden death of Jiah Khan. Police reports stated that Jiah's last call was to Sooraj, son of actor Aditya Panscholi, who was later brought in for questioning. Now we hear that Aditya Panscholi got into a brawl with a few media persons at the actress's funeral sometime back.

It is learnt that Aditya who arrived to attend Jiah's last rites smashed his car into a news channel reporter's tripod. Though other media personnel present at the scene managed to bring some calm, they took away Aditya's car keys and made him pay a sum of Rs. 15000 as compensation for the smashed tripod.

A visibly annoyed Aditya exchanged words with a few media people while he reportedly warned some saying, "Main tum sabko baad main dekh lunga..."
