Ali Fazal has joined the cast of Sunny Deol-starrer 'Lahore 1947'.As per a statement, Ali Fazal has come on board to play an important role in the film, which is being directed by Rajkumar Santoshi.Last week, it was revealed that the actor Abhimanyu Singh who has worked in Sooryavanshi, Dhol, Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela, Kisi Ki Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan has joined to play the antagonist opposite Sunny Deol in the film. This project marks the teaming up of Sunny DeolRajkumar Santoshi along with Aamir Khan. Interestingly, this film will also mark Aamir Khan Productions' (AKP) 17th production under their banner. The film also stars Preity Zinta and Shabana Azmi.Recently, Santoshi expressed his excitement about having Preity in the film."After a long time, Preity Zinta is again playing a very important role for the silver screen with Lahore 1947. She is indeed an extremely talented, finest, and most natural actress in our industry. Whichever character she plays she totally invests herself in it and makes the audience feel that she is made for that character.Interestingly, the audience will see her again with Sunny Deol. This on-screen pair has always been immensely loved by the audience. Above all, this film's script demands a pair that is as accurate as Sunny and Preity," Santoshi said.'Lahore 1947' marks the reunion of Preity and Sunny after a long time. The duo has earlier featured together in a couple of films such as 'The Hero: Love Story of a Spy', 'Farz', and 'Bhaiaji Superhit'.Meanwhile, Ali is set to come up with 'Girls will be Girls', a film made under their production banner.Directed by Shuchi Talati, the film is a compelling story set in a boarding school in a small Himalayan hill town in northern India. It follows the journey of Mira, a 16-year-old girl whose rebellious awakening is intertwined with her mother's unfulfilled coming-of-age experiences. The cast includes multi-award winning Malayalam film actress Kani Kusruti, Jitin Gulati alongside debutants Preeti Panigrahi and Kesav Binoy Kiron in lead roles.
Rajkumar Santoshi's lawyer Binesh Patel confirmed that the filmmaker has been granted bail in the cheque-bouncingcase and that the court has postponed the judgement for the next 30 days.During a hearing in the case on Saturday, the court ordered a two-year jail sentence for Santoshi while asking him to repay double the amount that he owes to a businessman. The Jamnagar court in Gujarat allowed filmmaker Rajkumar Santoshi 30-day stay on the order to appeal against an order. It will allow Santoshi to challenge the verdict in a higher court. In the same context, Santoshi's advocate Binesh Patel stated that they will appeal against the magisterial court's judgement. As per the statement from Rajkumar Santoshi's advocate, "First of all, the court has stayed its judgement for 30 days and granted Mr Santoshi bail after we sought time to appeal against the judgement at a higher forum," Patel said.He added, "The prosecution didn't produce any documentary evidence to prove that Mr Santoshi had taken money at all. The prosecution itself has admitted that a third party had collected the said money from the complainant. In return the third party had provided altered 11 cheques of Rs.10 lakh each, which Mr. Santoshi was not aware. The magisterial court overlooked these facts and ruled against us. Therefore, on the ground of invalid and false claims, alterations happened in the cheques, the fact that the complainants do not want to present or call-in the said third party who had collected the money, about Mr.Santoshi does not know. So we shall appeal at a higher forum with the above highlighted points and even more."The complainant, Ashok Lal, a prominent industrialist and shipping magnate from Jamnagar, claimed that he received 10 cheques of Rs 10 lakh each from the filmmaker, totalling Rs 1 crore, which subsequently bounced.Piyush Bhojani, the advocate for the businessman in the case, confirmed the sentencing to ANI on Saturday.According to the advocate, Lal contributed Rs 1 crore to Rajkumar Santoshi's film.Repaying the magnate, Santoshi allegedly sent him 10 cheques of Rs 10 lakh each.Once the cheques were deposited in the bank within the stipulated time frame, they bounced, the businessman alleged, adding that he first tried to establish contact with the filmmaker over this matter. However, he claimed that all attempts to establish contact with the filmmaker failed after which he filed a lawsuit under the Negotiable Instruments Act.Meanwhile, on the work front, Santoshi is set to come out with his next directorial venture 'Lahore 1947', which is being produced under the banner of Aamir Khan Productions. This project marks the collaboration of Sunny Deol, Santoshi, and Aamir Khan for the first time. This film will also mark the 17th venture under Aamir Khan Productions (AKP).Rajkumar Santoshi and Sunny Deol combined previously to deliver three box office hits in the form of 'Ghayal,' 'Damini,' and 'Ghatak.'

My team (director, producer & cast for the movie 'Gandhi vi Godse' was in the middle of the press conference when it was interrupted by a group of people with vested interests. They barged into the press conference which was held at 4 PM at PVR Citi Mall, Andheri. Later, several threats were received from some unknown people asking me to stop the release and promotion for this movie. I feel unsafe and I further submit that grave damage and injury could be caused to me and my family members if such persons are set free and if no steps are taken by your ad-self and further losses would be caused not only to us but the public at large. I Hereby humbly request you to take all necessary steps under law in this matter and further request you to urgently provide me with additional security to protect myself and other members of my family."Set in post-independence India of 1947-48, 'Gandhi Godse-Ek Yudh' depicts the war of ideologies between Nathuram Godse and Mahatma Gandhi. This surprises me because people who truly believe in him will never resort to violence. They will never come out on the streets with lathis and burn effigies. It only goes to show that they actually don't believe in Gandhian principles. They haven't even seen the film and are reacting to the trailer. It shows that their motive is something else."He added, "I request people to watch the film with an open mind and not come to theatres with any preconceived notions. While there are many who respect Gandhiji, there are also those who bad-mouth him. Same is the case with Godse, with some even calling him a terrorist.""So, I felt that there should be a stage for both of them where they are put together to put forth their viewpoints and debate on them. It will enable viewers shape an objective opinion on Gandhiji and Godse. The film will make them question if they really know Gandhiji or Godse as they thought they would. As a filmmaker, we have tried to put aside our personal choices and honestly put forward the opinions of both these characters from our political history," he continued. On the criticism he has been receiving for the film, Santoshi said, "It has come to my notice that some people, claiming to be followers of Gandhiji, burnt my effigies and it might happen in future too.
