Director Aditya Suhas Jambhale shares his experience of working with Yami Gautam, Priyamani in 'Article 370'

27 Feb 2024

Aditya Suhas Jambhale shared his experience of working with Yami GautamPriyamani and producer Aditya Dhar in 'Article 370'. He also opened up about the kind of response the movie is getting from the audience. While talking to ANI, he said, "Yami is a fabulous actor and to work with her was a great experience. She is very studious in her approach. Priyamani is amazing."Speaking about how it was to work with Aditya, he added, "He has been a great producer and has given me complete freedom. He forced nothing on me."On the kind of response this movie is getting, he shared, "The way people are reacting and audience are reacting is beyond words. Every day they share videos and get messages from all over the world. I think when we started working on this project we knew that people would have the similar response and every Hindustani would react to it."In the film that has opened to strong reviews and is drawing people to theatres on strong 'word-of-mouth', Yami plays intelligence officer Zooni Haksar.Set entirely in the scenic backdrop of Jammu and Kashmir, the film is based on the landmark revocation of Article 370, which guaranteed special constitutional privileges to the erstwhile state. In a bold move, the Centre on August 5, 2019, revoked Article 370, effectively stripping the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir of its special privileges and splitting the region into two Union Territories--Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. On the positive reviews and early box-office success of her latest release, Yami, during a free-wheeling conversation with ANI on Monday, said, "We had full faith in the film striking the right chords and finding favour with the audience. We knew once a viewer watches the film once, his views and opinions in the matter (revocation of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir) would change. A common refrain in the congratulatory messages that I have been receiving since our film hit theatres is that the youth should watch it as there's no propaganda in it."Helmed by Aditya Suhas Jambhale, the film also stars Priyamani, Arun Govil and Kiran Karmarkar in key roles.Filmmaker and Yami's husband, Aditya Dhar, who produced this film, told ANI, "We could only work hard for this film, which we did. We knew once the film arrived in theatres, we wouldn't have any control over how it was received by the viewers. There wasn't much we could do. We just submitted ourselves to the audience and hoped for the best. We knew it was the audience, and the audience alone, who could give our film its due. Our film had characters based on real-life people, who worked tirelessly for the abrogation of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir. The idea was to narrate their struggles in real life and bring it to viewers through the audio-visual medium. However, we never imagined our film getting such a response and receiving so much love from viewers. We are truly overwhelmed. To those who called our film agenda or propaganda, all we said was that they should watch the film before judging it or running it down. Abrogating Article 370 was the biggest-ever decision that an elected government at the Centre has taken since independence."Addressing an event during a recent visit to Jammu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave a massive shoutout to the makers of 'Article 370' saying, "I have been told that a film titled 'Article 370' is being released this week. It's good that movies are being made on such issues. Apart from entertaining viewers, it will also raise general awareness on the events that led us to take this decision."Responding to PM Modi's remark, Yami took to Instagram and posted, "It is an absolute honour to watch PM @narendramodi Ji talk about #Article370Movie. My team and I really hope that we all exceed your expectations in bringing this incredible story to the screen! "According to the makers, the film has already minted Rs 34.71 crore gross worldwide in three days.

"Was an honour": Yami Gautam on PM Modi's shoutout to 'Article 370'

26 Feb 2024

Article 370', which has opened to positive reviews and has been making brisk business at the box office, actor Yami Gautam on Monday said "it was an honour".Addressing an event during his recent visit to Jammu, Prime Minister Modi brought up the film, which is based on the events leading up to the abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir, saying, "I have been told that a film titled 'Article 370' is releasing this week. It is good that a film has been made on this subject. Apart from entertaining audiences, it will also raise awareness on the events that prompted us to take this decision. It will put them up to speed with facts."Responding to PM Modi's remark, Yami told ANI, "It was an honour. I couldn't believe it at first. I was giving some interviews at the time and, all of a sudden, my phone was flooded with notifications. It is a matter of great pride that the Prime Minister of our country knows about us and our film. Momentarily, I had this slight childish feeling: 'He knows me? Really? Such words of encouragement and support coming from the PM, no less, are very important for our film and will spur us on to come out with similar projects in future."Earlier, Yami took to Instagram to respond to PM Modi's remark, posting, "It is an absolute honour to watch PM @narendramodi Ji talk about #Article370Movie. Yami Gautam's action political thriller 'Article 370' banned in all Gulf countries

25 Feb 2024

Yami Gautam's action political thriller film 'Article 370' has been banned in the Gulf countries. While 'Article 370' has been riding high on success at the domestic and overseas box office, garnering praise from both audiences and critics alike, the ban in the Gulf is another dampener on the Hindi film industry, as it deprives audiences in the region of the opportunity to experience an Indian cinematic offering, which has been widely lauded. The film primarily explores universal human experiences within the framework of a complex socio-political landscape. Themes of identity, struggle, and resilience resonate deeply throughout the narrative as it delves into the aspirations and challenges faced by individuals amidst turbulent times, fostering understanding and dialogue in the process. The ban in Gulf countries comes as a surprise, particularly considering the region's thriving tourism industry and the continued presence of Indian movies being filmed there. The disparity between Bollywood's contribution to the Gulf's entertainment industry and the lack of access to Indian films in its theatres is glaring. While Indian cinema enjoys a dedicated fan base in the region, the absence of films like 'Article 370' emphasizes a concerning trend of censorship and limited cultural exchange, as per a statement. As the global film industry continues to grapple with issues of censorship and accessibility, prioritizing dialogue and collaboration in order to foster a more inclusive and vibrant cinematic landscape seems to be the need of the hour.Earlier Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone's aerial action thriller 'Fighter' denied release in all Gulf countries except UAE.In the film, Yami plays Zooni Haksar, an intelligence officer, in the film, which is set in the valley and revolves around the removal of special status to Jammu and Kashmir under Article 370.The Central government on August 5, 2019, revoked Article 370, which gave special status to the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir, and bifurcated it into the union territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.Recently, Prime Minister Narendra Modi referred to 'Article 370' film while he was addressing a gathering in Jammu. He said, "I have heard that a film on Article 370 is going to be released this week... It is a good thing as it will help people in getting correct information."Responding to PM Modi's speech, Yami took to Instagram and wrote, "It is an absolute honour to watch PM @narendramodi Ji talk about #Article370Movie. My team and I really hope that we all exceed your expectations in bringing this incredible story to the screen! "Helmed by Aditya Suhas Jambhale, the film also stars Priyamani, Arun Govil and Kiran Karmarkar.
