"Transformative year": Zeenat Aman celebrates one year on Instagram

11 Feb 2024

Over the past year, she has shared unseen pictures and interesting stories about her journey. The image captured Zeenat dressed in a black top that she paired with a stylish black and golden shrug. For glam, she opted for minimal makeup, golden earrings and a necklace and pair of shaded. The actor struck stylish poses.View this post on InstagramA post shared by Zeenat Aman (@thezeenataman)The note read, "People presume that transformative experiences are the prerogative of the young. My experience tells me otherwise."She revealed how her children encouraged her to join Instagram, "365 days ago my kids cajoled me into uploading my first Instagram post. That little leap of faith forced me to confront my deep tech trepidations and even deeper need for privacy. Then it gifted me a transformative year."Zeenat also expressed gratitude to her team and children who assisted her with Instagram. She added, "Oh, and what kids they are. If you wonder how I navigate Instagram or know the latest lingo, the answer lies with my informal little band of millennials. There is lovely, gentle @tanya.agarwall_ who photographs me with ease, thoughtful @_pratikshanair_ who makes up my face exactly as I like, and quiet @makeupnhairbyankita who fixes my hair. Then there are @zanuski and @carapiranha, who have held my hand every step of the way."The note ended, "So, here's a thought from this septuagenarian - transformations demand that we embrace the unknown. And there's really no age limit to when you can transform your life. Happy one year anniversary to you and I. Please eat a slice of cake on my behalf today. P.S: just like my first post, this one too was shot in my garden by @tanya.agarwall_ just yesterday. The clothes are from my closet, and I did my own hair and makeup of course."As soon as the post was uploaded, fans flooded the comment section. One of the users wrote, "Thank you for your grace on a platform that can be vituperative."Another user commented, "This post and you on Instagram is more transformative for us."Recently, Zeenat Aman also marked a significant milestone on Instagram by sharing her 100th post.Zeenat Aman became a household name during the 70s and 80s after bagging the title Miss Asia Pacific International pageant in 1970, is known for her bold personality and was one of the actors who set the fashion trend with her satirical choices.Zeenat has given several hits such as 'Satyam Shivam Sundaram', 'Don', 'Yaadon ki Baraat', 'Hare Rama Hare Krishna', 'Qurbani, Dostana', 'Dharam Veer', among others.

No one had any expectations of me and neither did I inspire confidence from anyone. But that's the beauty of life, anything is possible, so don't stop learning. Now here I am, working with these two legends, @thezeenataman and @azmishabana18, pictured here along with my director @farazarifansari who is not a legend, (yet!)."He added, "Believe in yourself, validate yourself, it's the internal that influences the external. Only you can put yourself down, or up, don't give that power away to anyone. Our film "Bun Tikki" is almost over, and like me, it's a little film that dares to dream big. So can you! Thank you @farazarifansari, for believing in me."'Bun Tikki' stands out as the most anticipated debut picture of the year, bringing together two renowned actors, Shabana Azmi and Zeenat Aman, on the big screen. The film is directed by Faraz Arif Ansari and also stars actor Jyoti Deshpande, Dinesh Malhotra, and Marijke Desouza will produce the film under the umbrella of Manish Malhotra's Stage 5 Productions.

Zeenat Aman says Deepika would be perfect choice for 'Satyam Shivam Sundaram' sequel

11 Jan 2024

Interestingly, during the rapid-fire segment, Karan went on to ask Zeenat about her choice of actress who would be appropriate to play the role of Rupa in the sequel to Satyam Shivam Sundaram (1978). Without any second thought, she took the name of Deepika Padukone.'Satyam Shivam Sundaram' is a 1978 romantic drama film produced and directed by Raj Kapoor and written by Jainendra Jain. It starred Shashi Kapoor and Zeenat Aman in the lead roles. In the film, she played the role of Rupa with a disfigured face.During the episode, Zeenat recalled how she got the role in the iconic, albeit controversial film, directed by Raj Kapoor.Zeenat Aman recalled, "I didn't think that he would even think of casting me in this kind (Rupa) of role. Because she is the daughter of a priest. One day we were shooting at Esel Studios, which is on the road to RK (RK Studios). After packing up, I just dressed myself up in my version of what I thought he (Raj Kapoor) would think of Rupa."On how she prepared for the role, she added, "With tissue paper stuck on my face. And make-up, and choti (braid), and ghagra-choli. Then I went to RK Studios. He had this man on Friday, John, and then I said, John, please tell sir that Rupa has come. So he said, Rupa? Who is Rupa? Then he (Raj Kapoor) called me inside his cottage, and I went. Then he was gobsmacked," Zeenat Aman recalled.Zeenat Aman shared what Raj Kapoor said later to his wife, Krishna Raj Kapoor."He said that this girl is a huge star. She doesn't need to do this. It's her passion for this that makes me want to give her the part. You know what he did: on an old song of Nargis ji, Jago Mohan Pyaare, he shot a whole reel with his vision of Rupa. It was so exquisite what he shot. Better than the entire film."She added that he showed the clip to film distributors."He wanted to show them, yes, Zeenat Aman can be Rupa. All territories were interested," she added.Zeenat Aman is now all set to make a comeback to the silver screen with Manish Malhotra's film 'Bun Tikki', which also stars Abhay Deol and Shabana Azmi. The film is directed by Faraz Arif Ansari and also stars actor Abhay Deol. Jyoti Deshpande, Dinesh Malhotra, and Marijke Desouza will produce the film under the umbrella of Manish Malhotra's Stage 5 Productions.

It was directed by Feroz Khan, who also acted in the film alongside Vinod Khanna, Zeenat Aman, Amjad Khan and others. The movie revolves around two friends, Rajesh (played by Vinod Khanna) and Amar (played by Feroz Khan), who find themselves entangled in a web of crime and deceit. The film explores themes of friendship, betrayal, and revenge, and it was a commercial success during its time.In 1986, the south film 'Viduthalai' was released. It was a remake of the film Qurbani and starred Sivaji Ganesan, Rajinikanth and Vishnuvardhan and was directed by K Vijayan.Zeenat made her Instagram debut in February. Zeenat Aman reveals why Feroz Khan cut her pay on 'Qurbani' set

4 Jan 2024

Zeenat Aman recalled in a social media post the time when late director Feroz Khan cut her pay on the 'Qurbani' set.She took to Instagram and penned down a long note. She wrote, "I read somewhere that Oxford's word for the year 2023 is 'rizz' - short for 'charisma'. Well, if I've ever known anybody to have rizz, it was Feroz Khan."The actor also recalled the 1970s, when her career was on the rise and Feroz approached her to offer her a role in his future ......play.She added, "Feroz and I had a rocky start. It was the 70s, my star was on the rise, and he called me on the telephone to offer me a role in his upcoming production. It was a secondary part, and so I politely refused the offer. Feroz was incensed and let out a stream of expletives while I held the receiver away from my ear.""Many months later, he called again. This time he started his pitch by saying, 'it's the lead role so don't reject it.' And that's how I joined the cast of Qurbani.""I often discuss set etiquette in my captions, so I'd be amiss to neglect Feroz's influence on me in this regard. I was quite a diligent worker, but on one occasion, my youth got the better of me. Though we had an early call time the next day, I agreed to go out to a party. It was a fantastic night of dance and drink, and unsurprisingly, I landed up one hour late to set," she added."Feroz was glowering behind his camera, and before I could offer him my meagre excuse, he cut me down to size. 'Begum, you're late and you're going to pay for the delay.' No argument, no scolding, but you can be sure that he docked my pay to pay the crew for that one hour delay!" "Feroz was suave, charming and polished. He was a talented actor-director, and Qurbani remains one of my favourite projects to date. Anyway, I hope you enjoyed this anecdote and I hope 2024 is off to a roaring start for you!" 'Qurbani' was released in 1980.
